What is TUCC Page 2
------------ --------
TUCC is a program that helps UltraSound users to easily
manage their many emulator programs and also to play many
different Modules with a selection of different players.
TUCC is NOT freeware nor public domain. TUCC is shareware.
TUCC is copyrighted. CZAR Software retains ownership of that
copyright. Anyone who continues to use TUCC after a trial
period of 30 days is obligated to purchase TUCC by paying a
small registration fee. Only with your support, TUCC can be
continued to be developed and improved.
==============================================================
Why was TUCC developed? Page 3
----------------------- --------
One of my first module player was DMP when I had my Sound
Blaster, then when I got my UltraSound I switched to another
player since DMP, at the time, did not even support the
UltraSound.
I soon got tired of having to type each and every module
name. So I started looking for a Shell that would be easy
to use and fast. Well, soon I realized that the three
shells that were available did not meet my needs. I wanted
more than to just push P. I wanted mouse support, I wanted
the shell to find the programs needed so that I don't have
to edit any ascii configuration files. I wanted the program
to be super easy to use. Such a shell did not exist. I got
used to that fact and kept on using my commandline typing
for DMP.
Soon MEGA-EM for the GUS was released, and with it, came the
burden of more command line parameters. I finally got sick
of all these command line parameters and decided it was
time to do something about this. The result is TUCC. It
is written by Thomas Jaeger, my older brother. He also wrote
ACZAR - The Ultimate Archive Shell. I supplied him with
what was needed and he started to program.
TUCC will hopefully meet your needs, as it did with me. It
is easy to use, and you don't have to use any editor to
make your configuration files. TUCC does everything for you.
Enjoy TUCC, as it took a lot of work to create.
Bernd Jaeger

Features Page 4
-------- --------
■ Interface - Stylish interface that is very easy
to use.It looks and feels
just like Windows 3.1 with resizable,
removable, closable, stackable, 3-d
windows. It's still a text base
interface but feels like a graphical
one. Uses state of the art pull down
menus, radio-buttons, push-buttons,
list-boxes, list-windows, 3-dim
windows with real shadows,
and much more.
■ Ease of use - The biggest concern for CZAR Software
was that TUCC should be very easy to
use but extremely powerful in
function. TUCC is easy to use and
powerful at the same time. Try it!
■ Fully mouse driven - Users can fully operate TUCC with a
mouse without ever using the keyboard.
Users without a mouse can use hot-keys
or cursor keys for speedy operations.
■ Players Supported - DMP, METAL, P669, PLAYMIDI, FARPLAY
and GUSMOD
■ Emulators Supported - SBOS, MEGA-EM, and UltraMid
■ Additional Support - The registered version also features
the ability to define up to 3 custom
players that can be used for any type
of player. The unregistered version
allows only one custom player.
■ Automatically - TUCC searches all drives and directories
locates Players automatically. There is no need to
and Emulators in hassle with putting all files in the
seconds. DOS PATH etc. TUCC knows where to
get all the necessary files
and how to use them wherever they
are located. No need to change your
AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files.
...and much more...

Quick Start Page 6
----------- --------
Assuming you would like to install TUCC in C:\TUCC:
- Change to the directory were TUCC should be installed.
If the directory does not exist, create it. For example,
(assuming you are on drive C:):
CD\
MD C:\TUCC
CD C:\TUCC
- Copy all files into the TUCC directory. For example,
(assuming you are copying all files from floppy drive A:):
COPY A:\*.*
- All necessary files should be in directory C:\TUCC by now
- Run TUCC by typing TUCC followed by the ENTER key
- TUCC will run an initial setup procedure, so follow the
commands on screen
==============================================================
General Mouse and Keyboard Operation Page 7
------------------------------------ --------
TUCC is fully mouse operational. That means, if you have a
Microsoft Mouse or 100% compatible, you can operate TUCC
without ever touching the keyboard.
However, if you do not have a mouse, you can still access
functions very quickly by using hot-keys and short-cut-keys.
The keyboard TAB key moves to the next menu or dialogue item
while pressing SHIFT+TAB will move backward. Pressing the
SPACE bar or ENTER will activate or check a dialogue item or
operation. Pressing ESC always escapes and returns to the
previous operation.
Check-boxes = [ ] Some Sample Text (Not activated)
[X] SOME SAMPLE TEXT (Activated)
Use: With the mouse, move the mouse cursor over
the push-button and click the left mouse
button to activate.
With the keyboard, move to the check-box
by pressing TAB or SHIFT+TAB and press
SPACE bar or ENTER to activate. Some windows
in TUCC allow you to use the HOME, END,
PageUp, PageDown keys for faster movements.
==============================================================
How to use TUCC Page 8
---------------- --------
Once you have configured TUCC you will say the PLAYERS window,
this window will enable you to select one of the Module
players that TUCC has found. Select a play by clicking on to
the brackets next to it. TUCC is smart enough to know what
type of extenstions the selected player can use and will
adjust the file window accordingly.
To Play a Singe Module:
-----------------------
1.) Select a Player
2.) Select a Drive (from the Drive List box)
3.) Select a directory with modules in it
4.) Double click on the module you wish to play
5.) The module will play
To tag several modules and play them:
-------------------------------------
1.) Select a Player
2.) Select a Drive (from the Drive List box)
3.) Select a directory with modules in it
4.) With the Mouse or cursor keys go on to a module
and hit the SPACE BAR to tag that module, it will
now appear in the small list box. Do this as many
times as you wish to tag different modules
5.) Click on the big PLAY button
6.) The modules will play
==============================================================
How to Resize a Window
----------------------
To resize a window, click on one of its corners and hold down
the left mouse button. Resize the window to the desired
position.
Resizing several windows allows you to have more than just
one window on screen. For example, you can resize TUCC's
main window, open up the ZIP switches window, resize it, and
have both windows open at the same time.
To switch between windows, click on the window you want to
use.
If you encounter any errors or strange behavior of
TUCC, please call our support BBS at 915-492-6747 or
915-595-8705. Only if you report the errors, TUCC can be
corrected and improved. While you are reporting errors, any
suggestions are welcome!
==============================================================
Trouble Shooting Page 10
---------------- --------
Problem 1: Everytime I use DMP and I play any type of module
and I return to TUCC my players names are not listed anymore
and I get funny characters on the screen.
Solution: You have a program loaded such as VGA READ (used
to read 1.7 and 1.8 formatted floppies). This program
conflicts with DMP's memory management. Remove it from your
memory.
Problem 2: Sometimes DMP hangs my system when playing a
module file.
Solution: Disable the EMS option within TUCC. This will
prevent DMP from hanging the system.
Problem 3: Sometimes DMP does not play any music.
Solution: You have probably loaded emulators such as SBOS,
or Mega-Em, unload them first before trying to play anything
through DMP.
Problem 4: Every time I load a .669 with P669 the players
hangs when I want to exit P669.
Solution: Go into your .669 dir and start up P669, now
save (push F2) your P669 configuration. This is NOT a bug
in TUCC, but a bug of P669.

Appendix D. What is shareware and how does it work Page 14
-------------------------------------------------- --------
Shareware distribution gives users a chance to try software
before buying it. If you try a Shareware program and continue
using it, you are expected to register. Individual programs
differ on details -- some request registration while others
require it, some specify a maximum trial period. With
registration, you get anything from the simple right to
continue using the software to an updated program with
printed manual.
Copyright laws apply to both Shareware and commercial
software, and the copyright holder retains all rights, with
a few specific exceptions as stated below. Shareware authors
are accomplished programmers, just like commercial authors,
and the programs are of comparable quality. (In both cases,
there are good programs and bad ones!) The main difference
is in the method of distribution. The author specifically
grants the right to copy and distribute the software,
either to all and sundry or to a specific group. For
example, some authors require written permission before a
commercial disk vendor may copy their Shareware.
Shareware is a distribution method, not a type of software.
You should find software that suits your needs and
pocketbook, whether it's commercial or Shareware. The
Shareware system makes fitting your needs easier, because
you can try before you buy. And because the overhead is
low, prices are low also. Shareware has the ultimate
money-back guarantee -- if you don't use the product, you
don't pay for it.
==============================================================
Warranty Disclaimer Page 15
------------------- --------
Users of TUCC must accept this disclaimer of warranty:
"TUCC is supplied as is. The author disclaims all
warranties, expressed or implied, including, without
limitation, the warranties of merchantability and of fitness
for any purpose. The author assumes no liability for damages,
direct or consequential, which may result from the use of
TUCC."
TUCC is a "shareware program" and is provided at no
charge to the user for evaluation. Feel free to share it
with your friends, but please do not give it away altered
or as part of another system. The essence of
"user-supported" software is to provide personal computer
users with quality software without high prices, and yet
to provide incentive for programmers to continue to
develop new products. If you find this program useful and
find that you are using TUCC and continue to use
TUCC after a reasonable trial period, you must make
a registration payment of $20.00 to CZAR Software. The
$20.00 registration fee will license one copy for use on any
one computer at any one time. You must treat this software
just like a book. An example is that this software may be
used by any number of people and may be freely moved from
one computer location to another, as long as there is no
possibility of it being used at one location while it is
being used at another, just as a book cannot be read at
the same time by two different persons at two locations.
Commercial users of TUCC must register and pay for
their copies of TUCC within 30 days of first use or
their license is withdrawn. Site-License arrangements may
be made by contacting CZAR Software.
Anyone distributing TUCC for any kind of remuneration
must first contact CZAR Software at the address below for
authorization. This authorization will be automatically
granted to distributors recognized by the (ASP) as adhering
to its guidelines for shareware distributors, and such
distributors may begin offering TUCC immediately
(However CZAR Software must still be advised so that the
distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest version
of TUCC.).
You are encouraged to pass a copy of TUCC along to your
friends for evaluation. Please encourage them to register
their copy if they find that they can use it. All
registered users will receive a copy of the latest version
of the TUCC system.
